The Reading-Fleming Intermediate School (RFIS) PTO, in coordination with the RFIS Music Department, will host a free concert featuring the Hunterdon Harmonizers Barbershop Chorus, the Whitehouse Wind Symphony and student performers from across the Flemington-Raritan School District on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at 7:00pm. This concert is the seventh annual host by the PTO to commemorate Music in Our Schools Month. The concert will be held in the RFIS gymnasium located at 50 Court Street in Flemington. The concert is free with open seating, and all members of the community are welcome! Says Dr. Anthony DeMarco, Principal at RFIS, “Flemington-Raritan students and families, as well as members of the entire community, are invited to join us for this special free concert filled with music and song. The event is sure to be exciting as students from across the school district join together with the Harmonizers and Wind Symphony for this special concert!” The evening’s festivities will officially begin at 7:00pm with a performance by the Hunterdon Harmonizers, featuring selections such as “Good Day / Wonderful Day,” “It’s Only a Paper Moon,” and “America the Beautiful.” This will be followed by a choral performance of K-8 students from across the Flemington-Raritan School District. The Whitehouse Wind Symphony, joined by several members of the faculty of RFIS, will close out the concert, with selections such as “The Trombone Rag,” “The Maid of the Mist,” and “S’Wonderful.” After the concert, young concertgoers will have the opportunity to meet with singers and band members, and learn more about how music is made! The RFIS PTO, RFIS Administrators and RFIS Music teachers look forward to welcoming the community at the Intermediate School! Since its founding, the band has grown rapidly, attracting experienced musicians as regular members from all over New Jersey, as well as New York City and eastern Pennsylvania; it is now comprised of approximately 50 amateur and professional musicians who perform together regularly to enthusiastic audiences throughout central and northern New Jersey.
